Frequently asked questions
I deleted photos, but my free space didn't go up
Deleted photos first go to a holding area for about 30 days, and they still take up space there.
- iPhone: open the Photos app → Recently Deleted (under Utilities) → Select → Delete All. The storage number in Settings can take a few minutes to update.
- Android: open your gallery app (for example Google Photos or Samsung Gallery) → Trash (or Recycle bin) → Empty.
Once emptied, these photos can't be recovered, so check first.
I deleted something by mistake
You can get it back within 30 days.
- iPhone: Photos app → Recently Deleted → select the photos → Recover.
- Android 11 and later: gallery app → Trash → select the photos → Restore.
Tidyback's deletion history shows what you deleted and when. Tidyback doesn't keep copies of your photos, so after the 30 days (or after you empty Recently Deleted or the trash) they can't be recovered. On Android 10 and earlier there is no trash, so deletion is permanent; the app warns you before deleting.
How do I restore my Lifetime purchase?
Open Tidyback → Settings → Restore purchase. Make sure your phone is signed in to the same Apple ID or Google account you used to buy Lifetime. No Tidyback account is needed.
Still not working? Update the app and try again. If it still doesn't show up, email us with the order number from your purchase receipt (Apple: starts with "M", Google: starts with "GPA.").
What is the free limit of 100 photos a month?
Browsing, scanning, swiping and adding to the delete basket are always free and unlimited. Only confirming a deletion counts: up to 100 items each calendar month for free. The count resets on the 1st of every month (your local time), and unused deletes don't carry over.
Lifetime removes the limit with a single purchase. There is no subscription.
Are photos also deleted from iCloud or Google Photos?
- iPhone: if iCloud Photos is on, deleting a photo also removes it from iCloud and your other devices using the same Apple ID. It goes to Recently Deleted there too and can be recovered for 30 days. Copies in other services (such as Google Photos) are not touched.
- Android: Tidyback deletes photos from your device only. Backups in Google Photos (or another cloud) stay as they are. To remove those too, delete them in that app.
Does Tidyback upload my photos?
No. Everything happens on your phone. Tidyback has no account and no server for your photos. See the Privacy Policy for what the app does send.
